A Swansea crew built around the newsroom clock

ordivix has shot, edited and delivered news video from Swansea since 2012. We work for television newsrooms and broadcasters that need reliable pictures from developing stories. Every item is checked for accuracy before it leaves us.

About
How we work

The principles behind every story we shoot and cut

News video is judged in minutes. A shot that is late, soft or wrongly captioned costs a newsroom more than it costs us. Our principles are practical habits that keep crews, editors and technicians working the same way on every job, large or small.

  1. Accuracy

Accuracy starts on location. Crews note names, places and times as they film, check spellings with the producer, and label rushes clearly. In the edit, captions and graphics are read against those notes again, so what reaches your newsroom matches what actually happened.

  2. Speed

Speed means being ready before the call comes. Kit is packed and checked, routes across South Wales are known, and rushes are transferred as soon as there is something usable. We move quickly, but never by skipping the checks that protect your bulletin.

  3. Clarity

Clarity applies to pictures, sound and structure. Steady framing, clean audio and a plain running order let viewers follow the story without effort. Packages are cut so the key fact comes early and every shot earns its place on screen.

Services

What our crews and editors can supply to your newsroom

We cover the full path from the first call to the finished item: crews on location, packages cut to your running order, live position support, studio interviews and secure delivery of footage. You can book one service or combine several for a single story.

  1. Breaking News Crews

Camera operators and producers sent to developing stories, shooting broadcast-ready footage on location.

  2. Newsroom Edit Packages

Finished news packages cut to your running order, with graphics, captions and voice-over.

  3. Live Position Support

Camera, lighting and sound for live reports from a fixed position or outside broadcast location.

  4. Studio Interview Filming

Lit and recorded interviews in our studio or at your premises with clean audio and steady framing.

  5. Footage Delivery and Archive

Secure transfer of rushes and finished items to your newsroom, with organised storage on request.

Tell us the story, the broadcast slot and what your newsroom already has. We will agree scope in writing before work begins, so both sides know what is included.

Breaking News Crews

  1. The first call

You tell us the location, the angle and your deadline. We confirm who is available, agree a plan and a point of contact, and the crew leaves with kit already checked.

  2. Shooting on location

The operator gathers wide, mid and close shots, cutaways and sound, while the producer records names, places and times so nothing has to be guessed later in the edit.

  3. Sending rushes

Usable footage is transferred while the crew is still working, so your newsroom can start editing or go to air with early pictures and receive the rest as it is shot.

  4. Follow-up and updates

If the story develops, the crew can stay, return or hand over to another operator. We agree updates with you directly, and any change to scope is confirmed in writing.

On the job

Kit, craft and settings behind our news video

These scenes show the places and tools where our work happens, from roadside positions to the edit suite. Each reflects a routine step that keeps footage steady, clear and ready for broadcast.

  1. Camera on a tripod at a live position

Camera on a tripod at a live position

A fixed tripod gives steady framing for a live report. The operator checks focus, exposure and the reporter's eyeline before the transmission window opens.

  2. Handheld shooting at a developing story

For fast-moving scenes the operator works handheld, keeping shots stable and varied so the editor has wide, mid and close pictures to build from.

  3. Lighting an interview in the studio

Lighting an interview in the studio

Callum sets key and fill lights so the face is clear and the background calm. A short sound check follows before the interview begins.

  4. Cutting a package to the running order

The editor assembles footage, voice-over and captions to the length your bulletin needs, checking names and spellings against the producer's notes.

  5. Monitoring audio on location

    Monitoring audio on location

Headphones and a field mixer let the technician catch wind, traffic and handling noise early, so clean sound is recorded instead of repaired later.

  6. Transferring rushes to the newsroom

Files are checked, named and sent by secure transfer, with copies kept in organised storage when you ask for it.
