Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on commissioning crews, edits, live support, delivery and how we work with television newsrooms.

Questions newsrooms ask us

These are the points editors and producers raise most often before they send us a first request. If yours is not covered, write to us through the contact page.

  1. How do we request a crew for a breaking story?

Send an enquiry through the contact page or ring 01792 410386 with the location, the story and your deadline. Rhian Pugh plans each deployment and will confirm in writing which crew can cover it, what kit they will carry and how footage will reach you. Clear details at the start save time on the day.

  2. Which areas do your crews cover?

Our base is in Swansea and we cover developing stories across South Wales. For locations further afield we can discuss travel before agreeing anything, since distance changes both the time a crew needs and the cost. Tell us where the story is and we will say plainly whether we can reach it.

  3. Is the footage ready to broadcast?

Yes. Our camera operators shoot to broadcast standard, with steady framing and clean audio, and rushes are delivered in the format your newsroom asks for. If you need captions, graphics or a voice-over, the edit packages service covers that. Please tell us your technical specification when you enquire.

  4. Can you cut a package to our running order?

We can. Priya Sharma and the edit team work to the running order and length you give us, adding graphics, captions and voice-over where required. Send the brief, any style notes and your delivery deadline, and we will confirm what can be turned around in the time available.

  5. Do you provide camera, light and sound for live reports?

Yes. Live position support covers camera, lighting and sound for a report from a fixed position or an outside broadcast location. Callum Reid sets up the lighting and audio. We will ask about your transmission method and timings beforehand so the position is ready before you go to air.

  6. Can interviews be filmed at our premises?

Interviews can be recorded in our Swansea studio or at your own premises. We bring lighting and sound and aim for clean audio and steady framing in either place. Tell us who is being interviewed, how long you need and where the interview is to take place.

  7. How is footage delivered and stored?

Rushes and finished items are transferred securely to your newsroom by the method you prefer. If you want us to keep material, we can store it in an organised archive on request. Agree the file formats, naming and how long we hold things at the outset.

  8. How do quotations and payment work?

After your enquiry we send a written quotation or confirmation. Once the work is agreed and done we issue an invoice, paid by bank transfer. Nothing is paid on this website. Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, and the prices page sets out what each service costs.

Working with us

How a newsroom request moves from enquiry to delivery

Most requests start with a short message or a phone call. We ask what the story is, where it is, who is asking and when the material is needed. That is usually enough for Rhian Pugh to decide which crew and kit are appropriate and to tell you honestly whether the timing is realistic.

Once the job is agreed, we confirm the details in writing: the crew, the location, the format of the footage and how it will reach you. If the story changes before or during the shoot, we adjust and tell you what that means for time and cost, rather than leaving you to find out from the invoice.

On location, our operators concentrate on accurate, clearly framed pictures and clean sound. Owen Davies and the other camera staff shoot with the edit in mind, so that the footage tells the story in a sensible order and gives your editors material they can use without searching for it.

Afterwards, rushes or a finished package are sent to your newsroom by secure transfer. Where you ask for an edit, Priya Sharma keeps graphics and captions consistent with your house style, and we check names, places and figures against the information you gave us before anything leaves our hands.

We keep the process plain on purpose. Accuracy, speed and clarity are the three things a newsroom needs from a supplier, and each step above exists to protect one of them. If something in our approach does not fit how your newsroom works, say so and we will discuss it.
